You will not regret giving this Superfood Breakfast Cereal recipe a try. It has been my go-to breakfast for a few years now and I never tire of it. You can switch up the fresh fruit depending on whatโ€™s in season. Use peaches and walnuts in the summer or apples and pecans in the fall.ย 

This recipe is vegan and paleo-friendly, gluten and dairy-free. We use our DIY Oat Milk recipe in the video below. Simply switch to almond milk for a paleo-friendly version. 

Why the name Superfood Breakfast Cereal?

It is a nutrition-packed way to begin your day! It is full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, healthy fats and protein. Superfoods are nutrient-dense foods that positively contribute to oneโ€™s health. And honestly, I started calling it superfood cereal the first time I made and it stuck and has been that way ever since.

Superfood Benefits

Hemp Seeds: High in protein and Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids. Contains many vitamins and minerals including magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, folate, iron, vitamin B6, calcium, thiamin, riboflavin, and manganese. (1)

Chia Seeds: Good source of calcium, omega 3 fatty acids, iron, potassium, protein, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, selenium, and high in fiber. (2)

Raw Walnuts: Rich in omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, manganese, folic acid, vitamin B6, copper, vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, and iron. High in antioxidants. (3)

Raw Pumpkin Seeds: High in antioxidants, fiber, magnesium, omega 6 fatty acids, manganese, copper, zinc, iron, phosphorus, vitamin K, and protein. (4)

Raw Almond Butter: High in antioxidants, healthy monounsaturated fats, protein, fiber, vitamin E, riboflavin, magnesium, manganese, and copper. (5)

Superfood Cereal Tips

  • Best when made with a ripe banana.
  • Use raw nuts when available. We recommend walnuts or pecans.
  • Delicious with many types of nut butters. Our favorites are almond butter and peanut butter.
  • If using frozen berries, warm them up on the stove just until they start to thaw or in the microwave for about 30 seconds. It is best if you do not overheat them as it will make your cereal warm. 
  • Optional toppings: dried mulberries, goji berries, cacao nibs and/or coconut flakes.

Superfood Breakfast Cereal – Gluten-Free, Dairy-Free, Paleo, Vegan

Course Breakfast

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Banana (Ripe)
  • 1/4 tsp Cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp Hemp Seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
  • 1 Tbsp Pumpkin Seeds
  • 2 Tbsp Chopped Raw Nuts
  • 1/2 Cup Dairy-free Milk
  • 1 Tbsp Nut Butter
  • 1-2 Cups Fresh Berries or 1 Cup Frozen Berries Thawed
  • 1 Tbsp Dried Goji Berries or Mulberries, Fresh or Dried (optional)
  • 1/2 Tbsp Cacao Nibs (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Add cinnamon, hemp seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, and raw nuts and stir until well incorporated.
  • Add your dairy-free milk of choice to the bowl and stir well. See our DIY Oat Milk Recipe here.
  • Add half of the berries and gently combine.
  • Top with the nut butter, remaining berries, and optional toppings.
  • Enjoy!
