Thank you for visiting my site and taking the time to read my posts! I thought I would start with this welcome post to let you know a little more about myself and my motivation for writing this Simple Eco Mama blog.

I have been so very lucky to be a stay at home mom for the past 13 years. I do own a small business that I am able to run mainly from home. I have also had other part-time jobs since having children, such as data entry and a kindergarten assistant for a Waldorf school. As my children are growing older, I do not have them with me for quite a few hours a day, and I have come to a point in my life where I wonder, what more can I do? What is my purpose now?

I love being a mother and all it entails, but I also want to do something else that will make a difference for others. I have researched and learned a lot over the years. I have always loved nutrition and fitness and after years of learning and research, my belief that nutrition and fitness are crucial to living a healthy life is stronger now more than it ever was. Back before I had children, I thought I was eating healthy, but so much has changed since then and I was wrong! I also love to see that plant medicine is regaining popularity and that we do have options, when and where appropriate, to use it along with or replacing some allopathic medicines.

I believe in the power of nature and the fact that we should spend as much time as we can in it. It is very healing and has so many benefits. See my article Connect with Nature to read more about these benefits. Different ways to connect with Mother Nature are meditation, gardening, outdoor play, natural toys for children, natural/eco-friendly items in the home and so much more!

The most recent part of my journey is rediscovering my strong interest in how โ€œweโ€ used to live. As a child, I loved visiting and learning about old Native American ruins or pioneer homes that were set up to represent that certain time of life. It was also fun to explore old castles or visit farms that are still being operated in the traditional way. It has been so rewarding to travel with our children and explore more of these places together.

I feel that I have an old soul deep inside somewhere. I enjoy reading books with my children but look forward to it the most when we are reading stories about the past, such as Little House on the Prairie series. And for a more adult version, the Clan of the Cave Bear series! I loved these books!

It would be so gratifying to be able to provide my family with as much homegrown/home-cooked food as possible, knit a blanket by the fire, read books and create more quiet time in our very busy lives. This is the journey I am on now and I will share with you the things I have learned as well as what I am working on and working towards.

I know our ancestors went through many hard times that modern medicine and technology have helped us with today, but we also have different challenges in the world that we are facing now. Healthcare costs and so many health challenges are on the rise, such as diabetes, autoimmune diseases, chronic illnesses, cancer, etc. I have been through some of them myself! And I believe that these challenges have been the main trigger for me to create a more natural and healthy lifestyle for myself and for my family.

I feel that it is even more important now than ever to take some of our past history and our natural inherent desires to return to and integrate more nature into our lives. We need to purposefully create more quiet time in our everyday living. We have lost touch with what it is like to sit and just be in the present moment, no phones, earbuds, music, tv, video games, etc.

I would love to inspire and help moms to do just that, create more quiet and purpose in their busy stressful lives. This can be achieved through nutrition and fitness changes, connecting with nature, decluttering the home, and living a more sustainable life.

So much of our time is spent running around and worrying about what comes next. I am the same way and I would like to help others achieve a more balanced life by taking small but impactful steps to create the life that they desire.

I feel like the next step for me, my purpose, is to write this blog and share what I have learned and continue to learn with all the Mamaโ€™s out there who are looking to feel more calm and grounded in their everyday living. Also to share with you why it is so important to take care of yourself which will, in turn, influence your family and your life as a whole.

Please feel free to comment below and let me know about yourself or your interests in these topics. Are you looking to achieve more quiet in your life?

  • I am so happy you shared your blog! I need more quiet time myself and appreciate your outlook. I am in the process of learning to take care of myself now and am 51. Long time coming but at least I am here.

    Thank you

Yes! That is so good to hear. For me, consistent small steps have helped so much along the way.
